2003 - I always start these yearly letters with how awesome the year before was.
This, though, WAS a truly exceptional year for me. I got married!!! Eeeeeeeeeeee………
|
January: I continued my education at Cornish College of the Arts,
but toned it down to only one class due to the expected work I was going
to put into the wedding. My birthday came and went, but not without treats
from my soon to be hubby. He took me skiing …..it was good to have fun in
the snow again. Oh this was also the month, I found my dress…….wow! ……I had
to try on over 50 different ones all over the place and it was true, when I
found the right one, I came out of the dressing room and my girlfriend cried.
That was the sign I was looking for and bought it right there on the spot.
February: Mum and Dad took their Leap of Faith. It was a glorious
sight to see when they both walked through the class fearlessly. An
event that will last a lifetime in my memory. We looked and looked and
finally found the location for the wedding - MonteVilla Farmhouse. We really liked the
staff and presentation - it was going to be perfect.
March: If going to school, getting married and working full time
wasn't enough. I found a house I fell in love with. It was in the process
of being built. We put an offer on the house and it was accepted. We would
move right after our honeymoon into a brand new gorgeous 5 bedroom house
just across from a park. This was same month I decided to move jobs. I
left being the lead of a group to being a project manager. The change
of management was a good one.
April: This was the month of birthdays and rush, rush, rush
on the wedding plans. Only two months to go and I had to finish
all the handmade invitations.
May: I finished my class with another A and we celebrated
Hannah's 6th birthday. Wow- those girls are gorgeous. It was another
month of wedding planning, invitations, and girl dress shopping as
well as making all the give aways by hand.
June: One more month to go…..the house was coming along
nicely and I even started packing - not only for the honeymoon, but
for us moving right after we got back. Caio turned 11 and Hayden 10.
July: It's here - finally! ……the month I'd been waiting for.
July was a busy month, but everything started coming clearer. My
tenacious planning and preparation paid off big time. The wedding
was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for better friends -
so many hearts touched our special day. My parents helped us out so
much with all the costs and Mum even read a beautiful poem for us both.
It was a glorious day that will be treasured forever.
August: Our honeymoon ran into August. We first went to Bangkok,
Thailand where I spoilt myself with sapphires to match my wedding band.
After the three day tour around all the temples, we flew down to Koh Samui.
It was much hotter there and we loved the hotel. Our wedding theme was
carried throughout the stay since they had a butterfly museum directly
across from the hotel. The pool was a butterfly shape and all along the
outside staircase were butterflies engraved into the stone. The biggest
event happened the second day there. Scott wanted to get another motorcycle
and this required me to drive the one we already had back through town.
Well, we never made it to the store. I drove (with Scott on the back) for
about 10 mins when my nervousness took over and finally we ended up head
first over the handlebars. I had came head to head with a poll. There was
blood everywhere, but both Scott and I were fine. The trip to the hospital
won't be forgotten too easily however….the total bill for patching me up
was $3. It was ironic that the same afternoon we'd already booked our couples
massage and pampering session. Perfect timing ;-) The trip to Hong Kong a
week later was at the right time, we'd had enough sun and shopping to last
us a lifetime. Hong Kong was another adventure in itself. It's amazing how
just 3 days can make such an impression. I got to visit an old friend and
rekindle a friendship. That being my favorite part, I think Scott was
overwhelmed and in awe of the fact this rush, rush of a city used to be my home.
After returning from fantasy trip, reality struck hard and the realization that we'd
have to finish packing and move so soon after such a relaxing time, we decided to
postpone our move to the new house. There will be another opportunity soon.
September: After being in the slowness of life in Thailand and
hoping one day to venture into this lifestyle, I decided that school
was going to have to take a break.
October: Scott and I had received so many wonderful gifts
for our special day…. one of them was a trip up to Canada with hotel and
food included. It was a well-needed weekend of rest and relaxation. Again,
this was another month of birthdays; Scott and Dad's. Work was also a month
of change since I'd been recruited for a promotion working with Boeing
Suppliers as an eBusiness Architect. It's a new position where I can work
from home most of the time. The people are great and of course, a promotion
is always a good thing.
November: We gave thanks for a great year at our Thanksgiving
table and acknowledged that all is good. I took the week off work to
help save some peoples job since 30,000 jobs have already dissipated
since the onset of the layoff's last year. It worked and a few warn
notices were pulled through our efforts.
December: We started the celebratory month off to a good
start with a weekend away in Ocean Shores with a few other friends.
It's now become the yearly get away. The holidays are fast approaching
and so much shopping to be done still…..
Wishing you all a Very Happy Holidays, love
J*, Scott, Hayden and Caio. xoxoxox :-)
